An apartment move in Raleigh is rarely about the apartment itself. It is about the building. The Capital Blvd complexes have low-clearance loading canopies and no reserved spots. The downtown walk-ups on Inman and Fuquay-Varina have narrow staircases and zero ramp access. The lakefront garden apartments out by Five Points have generous parking but a 200-foot carry from the lot to the back door. Each of these requires a different crew size and a different truck. The one thing that almost never works: a generic two-mover, 26-ft truck, hourly quote that ignores any of that.

What we do, specifically: our crew dispatcher knows which Capital Blvd building you are in and whether to bring a 16-ft straight or a 26-ft straight. Our guys routinely work the downtown walk-ups and are not going to charge you long-carry fees because the 3rd floor has a switchback landing. We issue COIs same-day for the property management that asks for them. We quote flat-rate so an over-90-minute elevator-reservation hold does not blow up the bill.

How we sort by building access before writing the quote

When you submit the quote form, the address goes to Tanesha first. She checks the building against what we already know about its access constraints (the Capital Blvd corridor, downtown walk-ups, garden complexes off Six Forks and Edgewood, lakefront in Five Points, student housing within walking distance of Lee). She flags the constraint in the crew dispatch notes, so they know what they are quoting on. This is the difference between a crew showing up with a tractor-trailer that cannot navigate the turn into the rear lot, and a crew showing up with the right truck and the right crew size for the job that is actually there.

If your building has any of these access realities, mention them on the form (or just say the complex name, for most, we already know):

  • Reserved-spot rules: most Capital Blvd complexes do not reserve, so movers park at the leasing office and carry. We account for this upfront.
  • Freight-elevator reservations: required at several newer complexes for moves on the 1st/15th. We will help you coordinate.
  • COI requirements: nearly all newer complexes (and most downtown professional buildings) want one. Standard, fast, no fee from our crew.
  • Tight turn radius: a few Capital Blvd complexes have a turn into the rear loading that a tractor-trailer simply cannot make. Our crew brings 26-ft straight trucks for those.
  • Stairs vs elevator: 3rd-floor walk-ups are quoted differently than 3rd-floor with elevator. Flat-rate either way; the difference is in the crew size.

Raleigh apartment-move price reality, 2026

Our crew, our trucks

  • Owner or Tanesha picks up the phone — no call center
  • Written flat-rate quote = exactly what you pay at delivery
  • Same crew loads and unloads, every move
  • $1M cargo coverage, COI same-day for buildings
  • Claims handled in-house — Brandon signs off personally

× Broker chain

  • Call center routes you, your number gets sold
  • Quote rebilled at delivery for “extras”
  • Different unknown carrier per trip
  • Generic certificate, COI is a fight
  • “Not our crew” runaround on damage claims

Honest flat-rate quote bands for Wake County apartment moves this year:

  • Studio / efficiency: $380-$580
  • 1-bedroom apartment: $480-$780
  • 2-bedroom apartment: $620-$1,050
  • Loft / 2-BR with long carry: $750-$1,200

Push toward the high end of each band if you are moving on the 1st of the month, in a walk-up, or have a long carry from parking to door. Push toward the low end for weekday off-peak, ground-floor with adjacent parking, or moving inside the same complex (yes, internal moves are common).

End-of-lease / new-lease coordination

Raleigh apartment market turns over heavily around the 1st and the 15th. If you are going from one apartment to another, our crew will quote a single flat-rate that handles the load at origin, the drive (almost always under 30 minutes for an in-county apartment swap), and the unload at destination, one job, one number. The hard part is not the move, it is lining up the elevator/parking reservation at both buildings on the same morning. Wesley will help you sequence the request to both buildings property managers as part of the booking.

A word on hourly apartment quotes

You will sometimes see Raleigh movers quote hourly ($135/hr, 2-hr minimum). For an in-county apartment-to-apartment move with predictable access, hourly might actually save you money if the crew is fast and the buildings cooperate. The risk is that hourly punishes you for things outside your control, elevator broken down, freight delivery blocking your loading bay, a thunderstorm delaying loading. Flat-rate eats that risk for you. Our crew offers flat-rate as the default for apartment work in Raleigh; if you specifically want hourly, ask on the quote form and we can walk you through both options.

What's included

What our crew handles for this job

  • Building-access screen: we tell our crew upfront what kind of truck your building can actually fit (vs what looks fine on Google Street View)

  • Elevator-reservation flag — for buildings that need it, we surface that requirement before the crew shows up

  • COI (certificate of insurance) for buildings that require one from the crew — most our crew issue same-day on request

  • Flat-rate written quote sized to your unit (studio / 1-BR / 2-BR / loft) — not an hourly meter that bleeds while a crew waits for the freight elevator

  • Two-mover crew standard for 1-BR, three-mover for 2-BR with a long carry — sized to the actual job, not a generic minimum

  • Floor and doorway protection — Masonite or rubber runners for tile/LVT lobbies, jamb guards in narrow doorways

  • Same-day-Saturday capacity for end-of-lease apartment swaps, with prior booking

  • Disposal of cardboard and packing materials at the destination (the apartment dumpster fills up fast on a 1st-of-the-month move)

Joseph and These guys are excellent. Very professional and time efficient. I could not have asked for a better service provide...I just wish I’d been aware of the work they do much earlier…it would have saved me a lot of headache. They know their stuff well enough to offer me very welcomed advise. And they do it with a friendly attitude. All I was required to do was sit and relax…and direct every now and then. They came fully prepared to get me moving out of the old place…and into the new. All with a lot of energy and smiles galore. I have enjoyed their company…albeit professional…and I’d definitely use them again (hopefully not anytime soon)…or refer their services.

Excellent experience all around. Used them because I saw someone else in the building use them. I did call other company's but I chose them for professional (from start and eventually finish), price (fair and included everything- very transparent), and hours of availability (lots). While we only had a few things to get rid of the experience was great.

I booked the company for same-day Junk removal in downtown Raleigh. Jake and Elliot were great, super helpful and fast. Overall great experience — one word of warning is that while the company does its best to be same-day, unless you’re the first one on the docket, expect some delays. My original estimated start time was 9-11am, but we got started around 12:30pm.

Service FAQs

Common questions for this kind of move

Which Capital Blvd complexes does your crew know the access constraints for?
Our crew regularly serves the corridor — Highland Park at Raleigh, Coyote Trail, Park Place, the Vine Raleigh, Magnolia Court Raleigh, and the older garden-style sets behind the new build-out. Each has its own quirks: tight turn radius into the rear loading area, no reserved spots on the 1st, low canopy at the dumpster turnaround. We flag the specific complex in the dispatch notes so the right-size truck (usually a 26-ft straight, not a tractor) shows up.
Do downtown walk-ups (Inman, Fuquay-Varina, Broad St) need a different crew?
Usually yes. The older downtown stock has narrower stairs, lower ceilings, less margin to maneuver couches and box-spring mattresses. We schedule our guys who do this kind of work routinely — they bring a smaller truck (less to park), more pads and slingage, and they don't try to hourly-meter you while one mover squeezes the headboard around a 90-degree landing. If your unit is in a downtown walk-up, mention it on the quote form and we'll pre-filter.
What does a typical apartment move actually cost in Raleigh in 2026?
Flat-rate written quotes for Wake County apartment moves: studio $380-580, 1-BR $480-780, 2-BR apartment $620-1,050. Up the high end if you're in a 3rd-floor walk-up, have a long carry from the parking lot to the door (some Capital Blvd buildings), or are moving on the 1st when every elevator and parking spot is contested. Down the low end for a clean weekday move with elevator access and easy parking.
Saturday and end-of-month — what are realistic odds of getting a same-week slot?
End-of-month Saturday in May-August is the hardest single slot in Wake County, full stop. Our crew is booked 2-3 weeks out for these dates. The fix is either (a) lock the date as soon as your lease is signed, (b) flex to Friday-of-the-last-week instead, or (c) take a midweek slot at a meaningfully lower price. Tuesday afternoons in November vs Saturday morning May 31st can be a 30% price delta. Tanesha will walk through your real flexibility on the quote call.
Do you handle student moves around NC State University semester turns?
Yes — NC State University move-in (mid-August) and move-out (last week of April + first week of May) are predictable surges. We add extra crew during those weeks and quote a flat-rate that absorbs the typical Lee-related parking-and-stairs issues at the dorms and adjacent student-housing buildings. Book at least 3 weeks ahead for these slots.
What about COIs — does your crew issue them?
Yes — we issue COIs naming your building's management company within a day, no fee. You'll need to give us the name of the property management and the exact wording your building wants (most have a template). Forward it to Wesley when you book; he'll route it to our crew and confirm with you when the COI lands in your manager's inbox.
What if I'm moving from an apartment to a house, or vice versa?
Same quote, same crew — you just say so on the request. We size the crew for the larger end (usually the house side) and account for the apartment-side stairs/elevator/parking constraint. We don't charge a premium for mixed-format moves; we just want to know what we're walking into.
